MUSICIAN PORTRAITS

…that capture your soul

Your music has a unique sound. Your image needs to match it.

Not in a literal, obvious way — not a heavy metal guitarist surrounded by flames or a folk singer standing in a field. Something more considered than that. The visual identity that works for a musician is the one that feels inevitable — like of course that's what they look like, of course that's the world they inhabit. It deepens the listener's relationship with the music rather than simply illustrating it.

That's the image worth making. And it's considerably harder to make than it looks.

More Than a Press Photo

The standard musician portrait does one thing: it proves you exist. It's a clean image, competently lit, suitable for a website or a social media bio. It's forgettable within seconds of scrolling past it.

The portrait that actually builds your visual identity does something different. It has a mood, a specificity, an interior quality that makes a stranger stop and want to know more about the person in the frame — before they've heard a single note. It tells your story visually in the same way your music tells it sonically. The two should be in conversation with each other.

That's what these sessions are designed to produce.

What the Work Is For

Album covers and singles artwork that hold their own visually. Press kit imagery that gets you taken seriously by venues, labels, and promoters. Social media portraits that build a consistent visual identity across platforms. Promotional materials for tours, festivals, and releases. Images that look as considered as the music they represent.

The Approach

Before we shoot, I want to understand your sound — not technically, but emotionally. What does your music feel like? What do you want a stranger to understand about you before they've pressed play? That conversation shapes the lighting, the mood, the pace of the session, and the moments we're watching for.

Every final image is hand-retouched by me personally. Sessions may take place at my Toronto studio, with location options available for the right project.
